About South Central Emergency Medical Services

Paramedic Ryan Hamburger always has had a passion for helping others.

About South Central EMS

South Central EMS was founded by Ryan Hamburger. Having served in fire and emergency services for 14 years, he began at the Hastings Fire & Rescue Department before moving to the Fillmore County area.

We provide Advanced Life Support (ALS), which offers more than Basic Life Support (BLS)—the more common level of emergency medical service found in rural areas.

As an ALS service, we carry additional advanced life support equipment normally not found on a BLS support unit, which allows us to practice emergency medicine at an advanced level — in comparison to the BLS level.

We serve 16 Nebraska counties, including
Adams, Clay, Fillmore, Hall, Hamilton, Howard, Jefferson, Merrick, Nuckolls, Platte, Polk, Saline, Thayer, Webster, and York.

Services provided include inter-facility medical transport (hospital to hospital, nursing home to hospital, clinic to hospital, or hospital return-to-home), and emergent EMS response (initiated by 911, or through a tiered response with local EMS agencies, or an ALS intercept with a BLS service.)

ALL employees are required to go through rigorous training to provide excellent care with the most current information available to them.

As a company, our goal is to continuously improve ourselves to provide the most up-to-date patient care. In doing so, we have partnered with UNMC for EMS medical directions in advanced learning practices.
